Shenanigans

In expectation of our 3rd child and because it seemed like more fun, we officially moved our two boys into the same bedroom a couple of months ago. Things were going just fine until about a week or two ago when the bedtime shenanigans began.

What used to be a straightforward procedure has quickly become a more lengthy business. It seems that our 2 year old has figured out some stalling tactics - and now with an eager audience (and encourager) in his big brother, the bedtime routine has taken a turn for the worse.

First he doesn't want to get into his bed, then he doesn't want to lie down, then just when we're closing the door, he and his brother both need to come downstairs for an inevitable second pre-bedtime pee. Once back up in the room with the door closed, we hear small feet pitter pattering across the room followed by shouts as he pulls the shade off the window or adjusts the volume of their music player. Sometimes these sorts of things can go on for half an hour or more. Naptime is a similar story.

Although it's nice to see the brothers getting along and having a game together, I much prefer the daytime variety.

We're attempting to curb this before it becomes a solidified part of their bedtime routine... any suggestions on how to curb the shenanigans but still allow a shared bedroom experience?
